Hi frens,

Since I’ve been off of social media and focusing on my mental health this past month, I’ve realized I haven’t been great to me. I’ve spent far too long in the human DOING vs. the human BEING and I’m ready to make some changes in order to really tend to myself the way I want to be treated. It’s interesting- the golden rule says, “treat others the way you want to be treated” but I think a more important habit would be treating ourselves the way we want to be treated.

So many of my friends have confided in the same cycle of putting others before ourselves. Going out of our way to make other people comfortable, burying our own needs in order to try and meet the needs of those around us. It’s very nice to be there for other people- but a lot of times very uncomfortable to be there for ourselves.

I’ve been moving at a break-neck speed for longer than I was even aware of. When I started having stress-induced health issues, that was a sign that I needed to make some big changes. I had been focused on productivity and output, the goal post for success moving further with every achievement. I only took care of myself when I was physically sick or injured. I never took breaks, I always felt like I needed to be on the clock, or just ‘on’ in general.

If you’ve been around for a while, this is not new news to you. And a few of you have shared that you feel similarly about feeling guilty if you’re not consistently working. Between retiring the podcast and moving to a quieter environment, I’ve made substantial changes for my mental health and healing journey. I’m adding a new element to the personal growth pyramid:
